Benidorm Holidays – Why Benidorm remains a Winter Sun favourite
Benidorm… a popular late Summer/Winter Sun destination for many Brits and a consistent package holiday destination. Fuelled by the popularity of the TV series set here Benidorm is currently one of the most searched for holiday destinations on HolidayHoliday.co.uk for last minute holidays and Winter Sun. But why so popular?
Benidorm Climate
Benidorm’s climate is undoubtedly part of its attraction for many holidaymakers. Situated on the ‘white coast’ of Spain in Costa Blanca, it is sheltered by surrounding hills meaning the microclimate of Benidorm offers warm sunshine and opportunities for sunbathing when other areas of Spain have started to cool. It has 325 days of sunshine each year and temperatures in September are still in the mid 20C’s, dropping to approx. 21C average temperatures in October.
Benidorm Flights – Short Flight Time
Flights from most UK airports are only a couple of hours away if you fly to Alicante airport (ALC), with the airport being only 45km from Benidorm resulting in short transfer times to your destination. Flights are available from many carriers and airports now, whether you opt for no-frills cheap flights or charter airlines and package holidays.
Variety of Holidays in Benidorm
Part of Benidorm’s popularity lies in it’s capacity to offer something for everyone. It has three main beaches here, separated by a rocky piece of coast, Poniente Beach, Mal Pas and Levante Beach. Hotels line the coast here and there is no shortage of accommodation to choose from, whether you’re holidaying on a budget or going All Inclusive. Couples, singles, families, the elderly and gay holidaymakers (to name a few) are all welcome here and there’s plenty of things to do for every type of holidaymaker in Benidorm. Aswell as traditional holidays, cruise holidays are also popular here – September saw Royal Caribbean’s ‘Independence of the Seas’ cruise ship dock in the port of Alicante and send bus loads of tourists to Benidorm for the day, it being one of their most requested tours!

One thing you won’t be stuck for in Benidorm is finding things to do. If sunbathing on the large beaches here isn’t your thing then you can partake in watersports, visit the local zoos and aquaparks, take in a show, shop in the extensive network of shops here, or take in the lively nightlife in one of the many bars and restaurants the resort has to offer. Cabaret and nightclubs are very popular in Benidorm with partying going on until the early hours of the morning if you want to get involved.
