Women wear the trousers when choosing a holiday

women decide on holiday destinationA survey out this week by Tesco Finance has shown that Women do indeed ‘wear the trousers’ when choosing which holiday destination to go to. Indeed 27% of women believe they make the main decision on where to go on holiday. Only 17% of men felt they make the decision.

However, once actually away on holiday the roles tend to reverse and men take charge of the finances resulting in 20% more per week being spent whilst away! In fact the survey found that men spend on average £58 more than women while away. 56% of men agreed that they are in charge of holiday finances during the holiday.

The survey also found that although most people will agree that they want to get the most out of their holiday money whilst away, in fact 1 in 5 people end up spending more than they want to, with 1/3 saying that they take too much money with them on holiday.

Holidaymakers were urged to seek out travel deals and take advantage of the off peak season sales in order to help them save money on their holidays and help the pounds stretch further. With the average person spending £338 each whilst away, last minute holidays could give you substantial savings in September/October.
