Top 25 Destinations in the World Revealed – Where’s Yours?

The top 25 destinations in the world have just been revealed for 2011 as surveyed by Tripadvisor. Based on traveller’s reviews, the website lists 25 destinations worldwide that have been voted for by members of the site. They include destinations as far ranging as South Africa to Jordan. I’ve included a snapshot of some of the destinations below but visit Tripadvisor for the full list.

1. Cape Town, South Africa – Situated in the South of Africa, Cape Town is famous for its beauty and natural landscape, including the famous Table Mountain. Stunning white sandy beaches frame the coastline here, along with beautiful countryside, stunning views and famous winelands. The city itself is a cultural hotspot, with a great choice of dining, music and architectural history. Table mountain is a must for any visitor to South africa on holiday here.

6. New York - A buzzing city that is alive 24 hours a day with many things to see and do.  One visit to New York will not be enough for most

travellers, with plenty of things to do from shopping, sightseeing, dining, theatre and many more.  Take a relaxing ride around Central Park in a horse drawn carriage, take a trip on the Staten Island Ferry and get a close up view of the Statue of Liberty.  Hang out in one of the many gardens, bars and clubs all over the city.  Take in a show on Broadway, climb up the Rockefeller Centre to see amazing views out over New York for miles across.  Or spend hours in famous shops such as Macy’s, Tiffanys, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdales to name a few.

9. Barcelona, Spain – Full of culture, wonderful architecture, great restaurants, swanky hotels, late night bars and clubs, a lively welcoming atmosphere and even a beach!  What more could you want?.  Barcelona offers so many opportunities to explore, whether it be Gaudi’s works of architecture, traditional spanish food, shopping on Las Ramblas, or dining in fabulous fish restaurants in the pristine harbour area.  Top this off with great Summer weather and a bustling tourist economy and Barcelona hits the spot for many holidaymakers loloking for last minute holidays.

12. Queenstown, New Zealand – With New Zealand being a particular favourite of mine I had to mention Queenstown!  New Zealand in itself is a country you just have to visit if you ever get the chance.  But Queenstown is a central point from which to explore the surrounding scenery and beauty that New Zealand has to offer.  Queenstown itself offers friendly bars, hotels, camping sites and restaurants with a proper welcoming feel.  If you’re feeling brave try Luging, Bungee jumping, Kayaking, Jet boating or skiing plus many more activities.
