Holidays4U Cease Trading Affecting Thousands of Holidaymakers

holidays4u collapse
Yesterday we heard the sad news that Holidays4U had ceased trading. A tour operator specialising in Turkey and based in Brighton, Holidays4U also traded as Aegean Flights. According to the administrator the company had ‘”suffered because of difficulties faced by the travel industry as a result of the economic downturn” (source:travelweekly.co.uk).
So where does this leave you if you were a customer?
Holidays4U were ATOL bonded and the CAA has stated that ‘Passengers who booked package holidays with Holidays 4 U will be able to claim a full refund for their holidays from the CAA. Passengers who just booked a flight only will be able to claim this element. Holidays 4 UK Limited sold charter flights and package holidays to Turkey under ATOL 4097 from airports around the UK. The CAA will be arranging repatriation for all customers in line with the scheduled end of their holiday.’
Holidaymakers already abroad in Turkey and any other destinations with holidays4u should proceed to checkout for their flights home as normal as the CAA will ensure that any customers currently abroad can continue on their holiday as planned. If hoteliers ask for payment for the accommodation (which they will have already paid to holidays4u) the CAA has requested that all receipts should be kept and claimed back via the CAA on their return.
Holidaymakers with future bookings: For anyone who has booked with Holidays4U but has not travelled yet all holidays are now cancelled. You will need to claim for a refund from the CAA on package holidays and flights. If booked through a travel agent and if flights and accommodation was booked separately please speak to the travel agent to see if they can help you to re-arrange your holiday.
Currently figures suggest there are 13,000 people on holiday abroad at the present moment with holdiays4u with 50,000 holidaymakers with future bookings over the peak season.
