Virgin have announced today that they are due to commence flying short haul from March 2013 and will predominantly focus on flying between Scotland and Heathrow, running multiple daily flights from Edinburgh and Aberdeen. A statement from Virgin reads “We have fought hard for the right to fly short haul and take a strong challenge to British Airways within these shores. A recent campaign to highlight the 112 emergency phone number has been launched by the European Commission. It’s thought that a large number of holidaymakers (74% of Europeans) aren’t aware of the 112 emergency number which can be used in the EU much like you’d use the 999 number here in the UK. Major rail, air and transport companies have joined in the cmapaign to highlight the existence of the number as a result, with some airline companies printing information on tickets. 112 can be called when you are in an EU country or at home to call the fire brigade, police or emergency... [Read the full story]

A Safari in the Chilterns – The Whipsnade Lookout Lodge experience

A Safari in the Chilterns – The Whipsnade Lookout Lodge experience

July 19, 2012 · Leave a Comment

The chance to spend a night in our own little log cabin under the stars in the middle of a zoo? Surrounded by the sights and sounds of the Rhinos and other animals? Yes please! I’d holidayed on safari in Kenya and spent time with Lions in New Zealand but had never been given the option to do it in the UK before. This opportunity was however recently given to me in the shape of a birthday present in the form of an overnight stay at Lookout Lodge in the middle of Whipsnade Zoo. Reindeer Lodge – our home for the night! Despite it not being that far from me, I don’t ever recall... [Read the full story]

Marbella Puerto Banus Beach Clubs – Nikki Beach, Buddha Beach and Ocean Beach.

July 5, 2011 · Leave a Comment

On a recent trip to Marbella for a hen do we booked into and visited one of the beach clubs, Buddha Beach, in Puerto Banus.  There are a few beach clubs to choose from in Marbella, although the three main ones prove most popular and are frequented by the beautiful and tanned people visiting Marbella, plus hen do’s, stag do’s and general holidaymakers. If the word ‘beach club’ conjours up an image of sunbeds on a beach, think again.  This is Marbella remember!  The beach clubs in Marbella are pristine, well designed ‘clubs’ situated mainly around a central... [Read the full story]
